Service Technician

We are recuiting a Service Technician to join our team in Sandhurst.

Reporting to the team leader, the Service Technician provides calibration and service support to customers, both on-site and office based.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work under direction from line management or senior staff for day-to-day aspects of the Service Department in the assigned region, ensuring high standards in customer interaction, paperwork completion, submission, and timeliness.
  • Support team members as skills and knowledge allow, guiding on work practices such as GMP, compliance, and general approach.
  • Aid in the preparation and production of training materials (presentations, hardware, practical assessments), and assist in training sessions for the department and customers.
  • Provide feedback on maintenance procedures related to the Service Department.
  • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings.
  • Interface with Service Administration to ensure test equipment is kept in calibration and available for upcoming jobs; recommend new calibration/test equipment as business needs change.
  • Perform on-site calibration of installed sensors and systems at customer premises, mainly in the Life Science sector, including:
    • Temperature (Platinum Resistance Thermometers and Thermocouples)
    • Relative Humidity (RH)
    • Differential Pressure
    • Airborne Particle Counters
    • Oxygen
    • Carbon Dioxide
    • Active Air Sampler
  • Prepare and execute risk assessments and method statements to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform routine, preventative maintenance PC ‘Health Checks’ at customer premises.
  • Liaise with customers to coordinate schedules for equipment access.
  • Provide basic customer support and fault diagnosis via remote communication and on-site, liaising with Head Office for technical support as needed.
  • Maintain ‘enVigil’ application software at customer premises.
  • Discuss potential additions or upgrades with customers to grow Service Department business.
  • Provide feedback on products for improvement or potential quality issues.
  • Ensure Health and Safety equipment is purchased, used, maintained, and that training is completed and renewed as required.
  • Maintain company test equipment, tools, and vehicle, ensuring cleanliness, safety, service in accordance with manufacturer or lease company requirements.
  • Stay updated on regulatory requirements and company procedures and policies.
  • Attend training courses relevant to the role (e.g., advanced calibration techniques, Health and Safety).
  • Offer internal support to other service personnel and departments.
  • Cover for calibration and service engineers in other regions as required, including on-site calibration at customer premises.
  • Perform any additional tasks that arise during day-to-day duties in accordance with company and customer policies and contractual obligations.

Skills:

  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access).
  • Professional manner in customer interactions.
  • Good communication and team-working skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time and priorities.
  • Good practical and problem-solving skills.
  • Initiative and flexibility to take on new tasks when necessary.
  • Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to supervise others, including contractors.

Working arrangement

  • Working hours are 09:00-17:30 Mon-Fri excluding Bank Holidays.
